One of my most viewed posts is the swatch extravaganza here. A popular color added to the search is Stoplight Red 911D, so I wanted to have some more resources for ya'll searching for that color!
First, bare lips. I prepped them with a thin application of Lansinoh:
Now, a thin layer, applied with a lip brush. I'm sure you can tell, but
yes, I left half of my lips bare for comparison. This thin layer is a bit on the pink side.
Now for what I would call full strength. I ditched the brush and
applied directly from the tube. Then I smoothed the color in with my
lipbrush. Keep in mind that this is a matte formula, but it does go on
creamy. If you put some lip balm on your lips before applying it, and
then mix it in well with your lipbrush, the formula will remain a satin
finish. If you apply the lipstick without any balm, the finish will
look matte, but will feel satin on your lips.
Next is full lip. I applied directly from the tube to the bare side, and it only needed one coat. This lipstick is very opaque when applied directly from the tube.
Finally, I blotted once with a tissue:
Here is a full-face shot, to give you a better idea of how it works with skin tone. It looks much paler in this shot than it does in real life.
This picture is more true-to-life in color richness, but is a bit dark:
I don't wear red lipstick often, mostly because it is messy. Precise application is needed so that my lips don't look lopsided (they aren't lopsided), and because my bottom lip pouts out a lot, I tend to get lipstick on the middle of my chin when eating or drinking if I don't think about what I'm doing. So it looks silly to have lipstick on my chin, and unfortunately, I don't always remember to check right away. And, red lipstick tends to stain.
However, the Megalast formulas are quite nice. This color will stick around for hours. Using a balm underneath it makes its lasting power decline, but also allows you to effectively blot it to a more work-friendly daytime look.
It looks so pretty on you, especially with the color of your hair! I love wetnwild, especially the lipsticks.
ReplyDeleteThank you! They certainly have come a long way with their lipsticks!
